Reality check: will building 300,000 new homes a year make housing more affordable?

BBC's Reality Check team spoke to a number of housing experts yesterday to see if Philip Hammond's claim that building 300,000 new homes a year in England would start to make housing more affordable. The verdict? 300,000 is a good starting point but there's no universal confidence that it would make much difference to affordability.
