Cambridge Centre for Housing & Planning Research

This project was commissioned by East 7, a group of housing associations in the East of England, to inform their own strategy and policy development and to assist East 7 members in engaging in the policy debate with ministers and other opinion formers.

Phase 1 of the project provided a scene setting analysis of the contemporaneous (2012) situation and trends in each of the 47 housing authorities in the Eastern region. Phase 2 explored the implications of an agreed range of possible scenarios for the future.

Social housing in the East: Challenges for the region and implications for the UK

This report informed the strategic thinking of national and local government and the social housing sector. It also aimed to build public understanding of the key challenges and opportunities that the region would face in the future.
