A paper published in the journal Construction Management and Economics explores the research methodologies reported in OSM literature. The authors identify key relationships between different methodological approaches which in turn reveal a growing hybridisation of research designs, data sources and analytical techniques. The authors express concern about the apparent dominance of quantitative methods and the limited use of theory in CEM research, and highlight the need for diversity in methodologies to expand knowledge boundaries.
