Shared ownership has been in operation for over 35 years and forms an established part of the UK housing landscape. It makes up a substantial and increasing proportion of new-build Affordable Housing, and is now set to be further expanded.

The aim of the study was to improve mortgage lenders’ understanding of shared ownership and to help firms evaluate their appetite to support shared ownership in the light of the government’s aspirations for the tenure. The report makes recommendations for government, regulators, lenders and other stakeholders.
