ARCOM Conference Paper : OSM & Construction Industry Transformation

The paper 'Offsite manufacturing and construction industry transformation: a multi-level socio-technical transitions perspective' has been published in the Proceedings of the 36th Annual ARCOM Conference.

Despite its position at the forefront of innovative change in the UK construction industry, its has yet to become mainstream. This paper adopts a multi-level socio-technical transitions (MLS) theoretical framework to review and synthesise relevant literature to conceptualise how an industry-wide uptake of OSM rests on the creation of a dominant platform around which other innovations will coalesce, in order to ‘break through’ and trigger changes in the existing configurations defining the way the construction industry works.
