Cambridge Centre for Housing & Planning Research

The Thomas Pocklington Trust established a ‘Visual Impairment Parliament’ for people in Kingston living with Sight Loss. This research evaluated the process of setting up the parliament.

Meeting the needs of an ageing population is one of the key issues affecting both the housing sector and wider social care agenda in the UK at the present time.

The Thomas Pocklington Trust established a ‘Visual Impairment (VI) Parliament’ for people in Kingston living with Sight Loss in order to represent the views and needs of others living with sight loss in the borough.

Similar parliaments already exist for people with learning difficulties and for young people. Setting up a VI parliament is a new exercise that has not previously been undertaken and CCHPR were asked to evaluate the setting up process.
