Cambridge Centre for Housing & Planning Research

Fourth Digital Built Britain Housing Network position paper published

This position paper, written by Acting Director Gemma Burgess and ECR Valentine Quinio, looks at digital innovation in the planning process, and outlines the scope for future research and digitisation of planning in order to improve housing delivery in the UK.

The potential for digital innovation to improve the planning process and housing delivery in the UK is well understood: the UK Government has set objectives for digital planning in the 2017 Housing White Paper encouraging better access for plans and planning proposals and has creating a Planning Delivery Fund for innovations at local council level.

This report provides a comprehensive summary of current innovations and frames the opportunities for further research in a context of exciting but localised innovations.
