Biography:

Having studied in the Department of Geography at the University of Cambridge, completing a BA, MPhil and PhD, Dr Gemma Burgess joined CCHPR in 2007 and is now the Centre's Acting Director.

Her research interests include the opportunities that digital innovations present for housing, the relationship between housing and ageing, health inequalities, and equality issues more broadly. Her other main strands of research focus on land supply, the planning system, house building, planning obligations and the delivery of affordable housing through the planning system.

Gemma is a Co-investigator on the £72m Construction Innovation Hub, a partnership between the Centre for Digital Built Britain (CDBB), the Building Research Establishment (BRE), and the Manufacturing Technology Centre (MTC). The alliance will drive transformational innovation in the UK construction industry and, as a workstream lead, Gemma has responsibility for impact.

Dr Burgess is a Fellow at St Edmund’s College and the University’s Deputy Junior Proctor.
