Income-linked rents - report for CHS Group now published

CCHPR's research for CHS Group and Joseph Rowntree Foundation looks at how to set genuinely affordable income-linked rents.

The report used examples of the formula approach in setting social rents and the 'Living Rent' approach which is being explored by JRF and showed that the structure of the welfare benefit system has a profound effect on disposable income for lower paid workers. It was well received by the Board of CHS Group, who agreed that the data suggests that reducing rents on some properties and increasing them on others would have, overall, a positive impact on the disposable income of tenants.
