Biography

Chilombo Musa’s research is focused on analysing the institutions that govern land and housing provision in informal settlements in developing countries, particularly Zambia. She will use a New Institutional Economics approach to gain understanding into the relationships that create and sustain land and housing markets, drawing distinctions between different types of informal settlements with varying degrees of informality.

Chilombo has previously studied at the University of Oxford under the Rhodes Scholarship Programme, earning an MPhil in Development Studies from the Department of International Development. She also holds a BSc in Real Estate from the Copperbelt University in Zambia.

Chilombo has previous work experience in teaching and research, with a bias toward land, land policy, land reform and globalisation.

Her PhD at the University of Cambridge is funded by the Cambridge Trust through the Cambridge-Africa Scholarships.
