This technical report provides details of the method of estimating housing need and demand for the latest update of Shelter’s Homes for the Future series.
The estimates cover the period 2006-2026. They use the 2004-based household projections adjusted to take account of the 2006-based population projections. The report provides estimates of the need for social rented and intermediate housing as well as the backlog of current unmet housing need. A regional analysis is included. Finally, the report examines the financial implications of delivering the additional affordable homes that are required.
