London Strategic Housing Initiative Evaluation

Trust for London and Citizens UK have commissioned CCHPR to undertake the evaluation of an initiative aimed at improving housing in London for citizens on low incomes.

The £700,000 London Strategic Housing Initiative (2017-2021) is designed to tackle London’s housing crisis. The overall aim of the initiative is to improve the affordability and quality of housing available to low-income Londoners.

The initiative includes four key campaigns:

  • aiming to increase the amount of genuinely affordable housing on the Olympic Park;
  • involving residents in estate regeneration on Broadwater Farm;
  • tackling rogue landlords in the private rented sector;
  • promoting genuinely affordable housing in the Old Oak Common regeneration scheme.

The evaluation will examine the success of the initiative in influencing policy makers, and the extent to which it increases the voice and power of low income people within that.

The initiative builds on Citizens UK’s experience of working in partnership to advance the London Living Wage, since 2008, which led to the creation of the Living Wage Foundation.
