Housing need and demand in Wales

The objective of this project was to use new data to revise and update the modelling of need and demand undertaken by CCHPR for the Welsh Government in 2010. The key research question is what is the housing ‘need’ in Wales and how is it expected to evolve in the coming years.

The projections of housing need and demand that were done in 2010 have helped to shape housing policy in Wales, but it is widely recognised that these are now out of date. The Minister is keen to understand the pattern of need across Wales and at a local level. Revisiting and updating the work done in 2010 will help with this. The work will comprise top down assessments of future housing requirements in Wales based on official household projections and their breakdown into need and demand using survey data.
