Forty years of working with the homeless in Cambridge: Cambridge Cyrenians 1970-2010

A book on the 40 year history of Cambridge Cyrenians was published in 2010. The book traces the history of the Cyrenians’ work with the homeless in Cambridge from their origins in the late 1960s to the current day.

This book on the history of homelessness in Cambridge was commissioned by Cambridge Cyrenians to commemorate their 40th anniversary, and was funded by the Heritage Fund. The book, which draws on oral history interviews and archive research, the Cyrenians’ work with the homeless from its origins in the late 1960s to the present day. During this time it grew from a small amateur group organising a soup run to a professional body housing over 70 people in supported accommodation throughout the city.

Some of the findings were displayed at the Cambridge Folk Museum.
